Holiday Home DecorKristen Oostindie
As I drive through my well-lit neighbourhood and notice the empty Christmas shelves in my favourite stores, I realize I’m not the only one going all-out to decorate this year. Perhaps it’s because we need a little more holiday cheer than in years past or because we’re all just so happy that this year coming to an end; I’d say it’s a bit of both.
The inside of my home looks especially beautiful this year, if I do say so myself—and yes, I over-decorated slightly. I find a great deal of joy in coming home to my little holiday haven to relax and take a break from the outside world.

Another decor tip:
Bring out your “good dishes” and put them in your kitchen cupboard to use throughout the holiday season. Imagine how good your granny would feel knowing they’re being used and enjoyed. And don’t worry about putting your vintage pieces through the dishwasher; use 1/2 the amount of detergent and they’ll be just fine!
D.I.Y Table Settings
Whether it’s dinner for two or four, nothing says holidays like a beautiful tablescape. If you don’t have tons of decorations, have a look around your home and be creative with different things you can use.
In this example, we paired a sparkly Christmas scarf, tree trimmings, tea lights, and rhinestone jewelry with some of our favourite vintage pieces to create a bold and festive tablescape. Try to decorate your table several days before Christmas so you can enjoy it for more than just a day!
We know not everyone celebrates the holidays the same way, but we still want to wish everyone a safe and joyful month of December. And remember, 2021 is just around the corner!
